I seriously doubt that most within the Christian fold would bother reading it once they grasp the initial thesis. Most people go to church in order to experience a form of escapism, in the same manner that we go to the movie theatre to disconnect from the real world for a while and become immersed in a fantasy. Since the primary motivation for individuals attending church is explicitly for the purpose of deluding themselves, they will not be in any mood to be exposed to a book that skillfully dismantles their delusion.





Your intent is quite laudable, nonetheless. I think the best way to approach people of faith that may be on the precipice towards unbelief, is to approach them in arenas far removed from religious influence. Christians and people of other religious affiliations have become deft at using common social venues or topics as spring boards to launch a proselytizing campaign. Maybe it is time that secularists start to do the same thing. Use your next science class to talk about the superb rationality of evolution over the irrational superstition that is Creationism. The next time you see a film with your friends that is placed within a historical context, search for a way you can sneak in the historically immoral practices of institutionalized religion and how their dominion over society, in the past, stymied both moral and material progress.





It is time that secularists of every stripe become as evangelical as the religious people are in order to counteract faith based precepts.





Just as an aside, though the effort might be futile, you should try and do what you stated you are thinking of doing. Go ahead and nail a Letter to a Christian Nation to a Church door.
